In the 100wpm exam the key quote in the final minute must be word-perfect. One wrong word, or one extra word in the quote box, fails the whole paper regardless of your error count elsewhere. Fill this in to check it separately.
Every rule below is taken from the NCTJ Shorthand Marking Guide, 2025–26 administration pack.
What this can't judge. A real marker penalises spelling and punctuation only where the error "changes the sense of the piece", weighs an accumulation of misspellings in borderline cases, and checks your shorthand note itself — legibility, gaps, longhand in the margins, outlines matching the transcript. None of that is visible to a web page. This also can't know that you wrote an abbreviation where "television" was dictated. Treat the score as a floor, not a verdict.
